Jewell Tone Music & Art has been a creative hub in Culpeper for over a decade, offering music lessons, art classes, and engaging community programs. With a passion for fostering creativity and helping students of all ages unlock their artistic potential, Jewell Tone takes a holistic approach to teaching. Music students, from beginners to advanced players, don’t just learn the mechanics of their instruments—they gain a deeper understanding of music theory, songwriting, performance, and more. Their expansion into online lessons, which took off in 2020, provides flexibility for students to learn from the comfort of their own homes, making high-quality instruction more accessible than ever.
In addition to their strong music program, Jewell Tone provides engaging music and arts lessons, as well as group lessons, for everyone from infants to adults. These classes are designed to inspire artists both young and old by providing a creative space where they can explore various projects and techniques, either with instructor guidance or by following their own inspiration. The recent expansion into a larger studio has allowed this program to grow, offering even more opportunities for budding artists to develop their skills and create their own masterpieces.
The new studio space has opened up a world of possibilities for Jewell Tone. This expansion includes a dedicated art gallery, which has become a platform for showcasing local talent. Starting with pieces from the Blue Ridge Art League, the gallery now features artwork from a diverse range of artists in Culpeper and surrounding areas. To celebrate this creative growth, Jewell Tone is hosting an art gallery grand opening on Friday, November 15th 6:30-8:30pm.
Their new space also enhances their music program, with multiple rooms allowing for various lessons and classes to occur simultaneously. The addition of new lighting and sound equipment has paved the way for in-studio recitals, rock band performances, and the launch of audio production and lighting lessons in the new year. A dedicated “rock lab” room is now available for students learning in a band setting, with their rock bands already performing at local events. Additionally, they’re building a stage in the studio for future recitals, bringing live performance opportunities directly to their students.
Jewell Tone’s commitment to inclusivity shines through in their latest initiatives. In partnership with The Arc of North Central Virginia, they are creating opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to participate in music and art programs. Starting November 1st, their Arts for All event will offer inclusive Friday evening classes, blending students with disabilities alongside other community members in a creative environment. They are also working to provide group music lessons to students living in Section 8 housing in Culpeper.
From toddlers to seasoned musicians, artists, and beyond, Jewell Tone continues to be a beacon of creativity and community in Culpeper, fostering an environment where all are welcome to learn, create, and thrive. Keep an eye out for their upcoming events, like the art gallery grand opening and the launch of exciting new programs in the coming year.
